As you can see we hardy Arcadian Quilters are about to enjoy the second of our planned meetings in the Park.
The day was not the best weather wise but not to be deterred we began our meeting with the usual Show and Tell.
We did each other proud this time with an excellent selection of completed work, some headed for Charity Quilts while others fall into the category of Aussie Hero Quilts and this on it’s own is a most interesting collective programme.
From a single request some time ago for a hospitalised soldier to have a bed quilt whilst recovering from injury, this has grown into an amazing world wide movement.
One of our members of Arcadian Quilter who works tirelessly for this movement always has wonderfully coloured and often themed quilts to show us, this work is truely inspirational.
These requests come from men and women in the overseas forces, many of whom have been away for long, extended periods of time.
A chosen themed Aussie quilt must indeed feel like a hug-fromhome when it finally arrives!
Our Arcadian Quilter group hopes to be back at the Galston Community Health Centre quite soon where we meet —- 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month at 9.30am and the evening group meets 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7.30pm.
Please feel free to pop in and say “hello” … and new members are always welcome, for further information regarding the return to our favourite venue please call Carole on 9894 7749.
