Pet at Work

By Nev The Newshound

This month we meet Head Office Cat, Oscar from Thurlow Fisher Lawyers.

Oscar was originally adopted from the WLPA rescue in Gladesville. (World League for Protection of Animals) by Solicitor John Fisher, the founder of Thurlow Fisher. John needed some company as he lived alone and was in his 90’s.

They spent a wonderful 7 years together and Oscar honed his legal skills inspecting many documents for his dad. Daughter-in-law Jenny Fisher promised John that should anything happen to him she would adopt his beloved mate. Sadly, John passed away earlier this year, Jenny and husband Matthew (John’s human son) kept their promise and welcomed Oscar to the team at Thurlow Fisher.

He loves the bush aspect of Dural, tolerates the other cats, and is completely unimpressed with Poppet and the other Fisher pooches.

Nev: Hi Oscar! Nice to meet you! I thought all the four-pawed employees at Thurlow Fisher were of the canine variety – how did you come to work there?

Oscar: The management realised cats have a lot of qualities dogs don’t possess… we are intuitive, smarter and we don’t need the constant supervision and feedback my canine compatriots need. In fact they realised we are a purrfect compliment to the dogs!

Nev: What is your job title and what do you do in the office?

Oscar: My job title is Head cat and corporate brand ambassador. The corporate colours are black and white so I’m a natural in the role.

Nev: How did the doggos feel when you started your employment? Any bit… catty comments?

Oscar: Initially there was a lot of resistance to the idea, however I head a team of several cats, so there was safety in numbers. All the yapping has stopped after a cease and desist notice from the boss.

Nev: What is your favourite thing about working at Thurlow Fisher? Any perks? Oscar: My favourite thing about working at ThurlowFisher is the great relationship we have together at both work and play. I feel safe and secure in my role just like our clients. There’s often a daily bonus of treats or chicken. We have 18 humans, 8 cats and four dogs, so it’s a big team. I get spoilt as I should do. I’ve heard my image will be used in the next Thurlow Fisher ad finally replacing those pesky dogs, and then I’m expecting a double bonus!

Thanks for the opportunity to share my story. – Oscar from Thurlow Fisher Lawyers
