Most items are considered draft in nature and will lead to an adopted position only once the community’s views have been considered.
This month is particularly important as Council is exhibiting its draft delivery program and budget for the coming financial year.
There are always competing interests and initiatives as we try and stretch Council resources to get the best annual outcome, especially for the rural area. For an example, we have almost completed stage one recommendations of the Rural Land Study, the most significant strategic work for the future of our area.
However, at this stage funding has not been made available for the remaining recommendations. Given that the community was asked to give up their time over four years ago and that consultants were engaged at some expense, it is important an effort is made to highlight the need to fund at least part of the process moving forward.
In the same way, the community should highlight the prioritisation of any shortfalls in areas such as:
• Drainage
• Road maintenance
• Vegetation management
• Public facilities
• Parks and Recreation
Likewise, the “Liveability” survey has gone live. Hornsby Council subscribes to this unique information gathering exercise, designed to provide Council and the Greater Sydney Commission with what matters most to our local neighbourhoods. Examples of feedback in the past would centre around:
• More shops
• Parking
• Access to green space
• Public safety
• Transport
To contribute to any of these topics go to the “Have your say” banner on the Council website Hornsby.nsw.gov.au
