A Koala Fest is to be held on Saturday 15th September 2018 in Memorial Park, Kurrajong Village between 10am and 2pm.

A great day has been organized by many community groups working together to celebrate the koala population in the Hawkesbury and surrounding areas.

These iconic furry animals are out and about in our region so come along and learn all about them.

This will be a free community event with stalls, activities and information for all ages. Koala inspired specials will be available from coffee shops and other businesses.

The event is very important because we need to learn how to protect the koalas living in our bushland. For example, driving carefully to avoid hitting them on the road and keeping dogs under control are two important ways to prevent Koala deaths. Learn about koala habitat and collect a free koala feed tree.

This will be a family fun festival day with anything and everything about koalas. There will be face painting, children’s play activities and native plant giveaways. Koala Sniffer Dogs will be coming to give demonstrations. These clever dogs find koala poo, which indicates the presence of koalas, and then let their handlers know. They are trained not to hurt koalas or any other animal.
