The Bromeliad Society of Australia will hold their next meeting at Federation Pavilion, Castle Hill Showground on Saturday, 8 April commencing at 11am with plant sales, prior to the meeting at 12 noon.
Access is via the new Showground entrance off Showground Road into Doran Drive, Castle Hill.
Guest speakers will be Chris Sanders and Karen Jenkins, Noxious Weeds Inspectors for Hawkesbury River County Council, who will discuss the laws pertaining to landholders responsibilities in certain areas to control noxious weeds. How to identify a noxious weed and methods used for control.
They will also discuss the number of criteria that must be met before a plant is considered a noxious weed. Noxious weeds are rated Class 1 to 5 with Class 1 being the worst category. However there are many “bad” weeds that do not meet the criteria for declaration.
Sample noxious weeds will be on display to assist the members with identification.
