Galston Early Learning Centre were lucky enough to have a visit from the Arcadia Public School Band on Thursday the 29th of June. The band showed off their musical skills as they prepared and performed a repertoire of songs to our preschool children.
We were able to hear a wide array of songs performed including the Sesame Street theme song, Queen’s “We will rock you”, as well as the Star Wars theme song. During their performance the students showed off their talents as they played individual solos. In turn the students were able to showcase their particular instrument that they were playing. This allowed the audience to notice I wide range of musical instruments and they were able to label some that they knew.
After thanking the band for coming, the preschool children went back to the centre and discussed their experience. Some of the children expressed that when they go to big school, they would like to join the school band. Others re-enacted playing musical instruments and pretended to perform their very own concert.
Connecting with the local surrounding schools has had many positive outcomes for the children, as it allows them to build confidence, awareness and understanding for their transition into the school environment. We would like to thank Arcadia Public School for their visit and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the near future.
