Top Acts for Galston Gala

The Galston Concerts will close its very successful 2017 series on 22 October with their traditional Galston Gala.

The Sunday afternoon concert, starting 2pm in the Galston Uniting Church on School Road, will offer leading Classical performers in a range of popular styles.

After concerts in Europe mezzo-soprano Christina Wilson will perform songs of the great Romantics with her husband, Conservatorium staff pianist Alan Hicks.

With guest violist Robert Harris, Music Director of The Galston Concerts, they will also present songs by Brahms and a set called ‘Weeds’ – a tongue-in-cheek link to the Galston Open Gardens weekend which runs 20-22 October.

American flautist and Conservatorium Lecturer James Kortum will perform a Bach family mini-festival of music by the great J.S.Bach and his sons.

In a first for Galston but in keeping with their support of young performers harpist Ava Pudney, a student of Sydney Symphony Principal Harp Louise Johnson, will perform music from Bohemia, France and Spain.

A further rising talent will perform on the church historic pipe organ, with rumour of some violin and guitar tangos also in the ‘variety’ line-up.

The Gala will see the launch of The Galston Concerts 2018 series brochure and the announcement of their young performers Bach Plus competitions to be presented in March.

Bookings for the Gala are advised on-line at trybooking. com (search Galston) or phone Helen Jordan, Promotions Co-ordinator for the concerts, on 0425 339 841.
