STUDENTS GO BACKSTAGE IN NSW PARLIAMENT

I was pleased to host students from Primary schools across Hornsby for a behind-the-scenes look at NSW State Parliament.

The students, all leaders at their respective schools, were treated to a tour of the Legislative Assembly where they witnessed lively debate on single-use plastic bags.

Over morning tea they heard from sporting stars Kiera Austin from the Giants, Alex Tobin ex-Socceroo, Jessica Nash from the Matildas and Alex Newsome from the NSW Waratahs. These sporting legends spoke to the students about the hard work and dedication needed to play for your State or Country. Also dropping in on morning tea was Premier Gladys Berejiklian who conducted an impromptu question time. I was impressed with Galston Public School Student Milla who asked the Premier why she became Premier.

Thank you to students from Galston Public School, Arcadia Public School, Dural Public School, Middle Dural Public School and Pacific Hills Christian School who attended the event.

Christmas Card Competition
I put a call out to Kindergarten students from around Hornsby to enter my Christmas Card competition. This year the theme was Joy to the World!. Cecile who attends Berowra Christian School was selected to go on the cover and the other four finalists, including Geoffrey who attends Galston Public School and Jacqueline from Arcadia Public School, will appear inside the card.

All finalists and the winner received a Westfield Gift Card and Certificate.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their support in 2019, it has been a busy but exciting year. I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and look forward to continuing to work hard for Hornsby in 2020.

Geoffrey from Galston Public School, Peter from Asquith Public School, Jacqueline from Arcadia Public School, Cecile from Berowra Christian School and Lila from St Patrick’s at Asquith.
