SIDELINE SCOOP WITH GALSTON NETBALL CLUB

With months of preparation already taken place, the Galston Netball Club Expo day was ready to go. That was of course until we saw the predicted weather for Sunday the 9th of February and a last minute change of venue was required to ensure all guests remained dry and out of harms way.

Fortunately, Galston High School kindly came to the rescue granting the Club permission to utilise their indoor hall and so we were back on track. Despite the cyclonic weather, we were very pleased to see many members of the club as well as new families battle the rain to come and join the festivities of Expo Day.

With special guests Paige Hadley and Sarah Klau from the NSW Swifts and Australian Diamonds joining in the games, the laser tag arena proved to be a popular choice while our volunteers on the BBQ and the snocone truck served a delicious breakfast for all involved.

The club had the rare opportunity of running speed questions with the Australian stars in which all members were able sit in the hot seat and ask anything they wish about Paige and Sarah’s extensive career or netball in general which provided a highly motivating experience.

We would like to give a massive thank you to all who helped organise or donated their time or products for Expo day with a special thank you to Galston High School for the use of their hall, Eric’s Tender Meats and Goodie’s Bakery for donating all the meat and bread on the day. Each year, we also receive huge support from the club’s sponsors. Expo Day in particular, would not be possible if not for the club’s major sponsors Willu Property and a grant received from Bendigo Bank Galston Branch for the event. Their support for the community and local sporting teams is exceptional. Every financial product taken up with Bendigo Bank allows them to allocate more funding into the community, so we would encourage all our members to swing by the Galston branch and learn why they are Australia’s most recommended bank.

February also saw the close of registrations for juniors in the 2020 winter competition and we are delighted to see so many new members join the club as well as existing members return to play for Galston. Building on the huge success of the club’s teams last year, we are very excited for what 2020 will bring. In other registration news we have also seen a record number of children enrol in our term one NetSetGo clinics showing huge potential for the next generation of Netball players.

We would like to remind all members to allow plenty of time to order their uniforms with Sydney Netball Shop. As they are receiving orders from a variety of clubs, we recommend allowing up to 6 weeks for your uniform to arrive after the order is placed. The club also has a limited number of 2nd hand uniforms available, please contact us at secretary.galstonnetballclub@ gmail.com if interested in this option. We would like to wish all our members the best of luck in preparing for the 2020 competition and look forward to seeing all the girls out on court.
