Setting up for Success

Our kindergarten teacher, Mrs Crouch is a familiar face at Galston KU and Galston Long Day Care Centre and a welcomed new visitor to Fit Kidz at Dural. She visited the centres in March, reading to the children, getting to know them and taking the opportunity to see the great early learning programs in action.

“The comprehensive transition to school program we implement at Arcadia PS ensures that coming to ‘big school’ is a comfortable, enjoyable experience.” Mrs Crouch said, “It’s definitely a joint effort as we work closely with our local preschool educators, building relationships and ensuring that the children see school as an exciting and secure place. It is our aim to set each of them up for success from day one of their school career.”

It will be our turn to welcome the preschool children on May 19. All are invited as we once again host the fabulous Agricultural Adventure Day at Arcadia PS. Who doesn’t enjoy milking a cow, creating artworks with alpaca wool and listening to speakers who know all the ins and outs about keeping chickens? Local families with preschool children are warmly invited to attend. Please visit our website www.arcadiaschool.com.au for further information.

Arcadia Playgroup is located on Arcadia PS grounds and is another excellent opportunity for parents, preschool children and their younger siblings to see just what school is all about. Mrs Crouch is regularly invited to give talks about school readiness and what to expect as the children develop. Attending playgroup offers so many possibilities to socialise, experience play, learn and understand new things. The Arcadia PS P&C Association see it as an invaluable asset to their community. In January they generously funded the renovation of the playgroup headquarters. Keep your eye out for the official opening at Arcadia Markets on Saturday May 6 – another not to be missed event for the whole family. Playgroup operates from 9am until 11am every second Thursday. Please contact the APS P&C via their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ ArcadiaSchool/ or contact the school on 96531207 for more information.

Congratulations to each of our students who represented their school last month at the Zone swimming carnival. A special mention to Sophie, Koda, Elijah and Zari, the winning team in the small school’s relay. Well done!
