Development Application number 492/2022/JP was lodged on 24th September 2021. To summarise very briefly, the application requests to extend the life of the existing quarry (DA1887/2002/ HE as amended by DA96/2021/HA) for a further 6 years beyond the expiry date of 22 October 2021. The main aspects of the application are as follows:
1. Quarry Area – It is not proposed to extend the footprint (or size) and or allowable extraction depth (RL 70, AHD) of the quarry.
2. Production – It is proposed to increase the volume of sandstone extracted from 17,000 tonnes per annum to between 40,000 to 60,000 tonnes.
3. Hours of Operation – It is proposed to retain the existing hours, namely: 6.30 am – 4.30 pm Monday – Saturday with no activity on Sunday.
4. Vehicle Numbers – It is proposed to increase the laden vehicle movements from the approved 7 laden trips per day (i.e., Total 14 truck movements) to approximately 8 laden trips per day (i.e., Total 16 truck movements).
