Many residents have noted a significant increase in their property valuations which has in turn, generated an increase in rate calculation enquiries. Rate calculations are complex and have a number of variables. A property value increase in itself, does not necessarily increase your property rates.

The general manager has provided a link to address some of the more FAQs. I encourage anyone with specific concerns to access the link or feel free to contact Council for assistance: https://www.hornsby. nsw.gov.au/land-revaluations

The beginning of this term of Council invited questions about what could be expected moving forward. My response being, “last term of Council was quite academic involving many strategies, reports and consultation”. By contrast, this term is about delivery.

To date we have the following practical outcomes:

• The upgrade to Mark Taylor oval and the opening of the indoor nets.
• The opening of the three-lane boat ramp at Wiseman’s Ferry.
• The upgrade and access to bushland look-outs and established walking trails.
• The exhibition period complete ahead of the next staged upgrade to Arcadia Rd.
• The arrival of the roof structure for Galston Aquatic Centre is also encouraging.

Subject to resourcing, almost all areas of Council business have initiatives ready to be delivered. Including improvements to customer service reporting systems, booking systems and access to information.

We also expect components of other studies to be implemented including Shire wide Parking, Employment, Rural Land and Economic development and Tourism.

This is a great position to be in as many outside funding opportunities are subject to being shovel ready.

As always, happy to be contacted on [email protected] or 0499 004 861[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
