Quilting In The Park

Our last meeting “at Heritage Park” for this year. It’s been a great experience for all who felt they could attend, we have made the most of an opportunity; unusual as it was …. it did work for us!!

We also welcomed a guest who visited us from Riding for the Disabled.

Margaret Wilson, who has had more that 10 yrs experience with the Box Hill RDA, shared with us some of her experiences and stories.

Many of the young people who have received help in the past have been unable to attend classes, children from the Royal Institute for the Deaf and Blind for example, the thrill for a blind child to ride… missing ??

That feeling of “movement” … free from a wheelchair for another …. missing ?? She spoke of the fundraising efforts prior to COVID-19 …. the Bunnings BBQs, the Hawkesbury Plant Fair for which they have in the past supplied the catering …. both events presently “missing” from that most important bottom-line ??

One event which was held in early March and catered for by RDA was The Model Railway Exhibition at Frenchs Forest.

quiltingThese groups are struggling at the moment and we had an opportunity to donate the above quilt for their Raffle.

The 50yrs Celebration of Riding for the Disabled at Tall Timbers will be held at Box Hill as early as possible next year … and we wish them well !!!

We also donated a smaller cot-quilt which I’m sure will be added to the “fund-raising” list … unless some lucky little person may receive a surprise gift for achievement perhaps ???

As we bring our own year to a close may we as a group extend our warm wishes to the wider community, for a safe and happy end-of-year celebration.
