Piano Pictures for Galston Concerts

International pianist Tonya Lemoh brings her Piano Pictures program to The Galston Concerts on Sunday 16 September.

Featured will be the tuneful, virtuosic and ever-popular Pictures at an Exhibition by Russian composer Mussorgsky, with its famous Great Gate of Kiev finale.

The Pictures also portray other paintings by artist Victor Hartmann – children’s games, a ballet of halfhatched chickens, a busy marketplace, mythological creatures and more – inviting audience imagination.

Maintaining the visual theme will be selections from Watercolours by Tan Dun (of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon film score fame) and pictorial music by French composer Debussy in his centenary year.

Classical greats Beethoven and Liszt are also rumored to be making an appearance in the musical exhibition.

Tonya’s annual European successes include recent concerts in Scandinavia and a CD launch with her Copenhagen Piano Duo.

A busy Australian career as performer, teacher and examiner from Tonya’s family base in Hornsby Shire makes her very much an international ‘local’.

The Galston Concerts, starting at 2pm in Galston Uniting Church, 11 School Road, Galston, are fast approaching ‘house full’ capacity.
