Music Camp Builds Skills for Upcoming OMA Concert

Pacific Hills Christian School: The Importance of Gratitude in Community, 100 Days of Kindy, Community Carnival

Students from Pacific Hills Christian School’s OneMaker Academy have returned from their annual Music Camp, a residential program designed to prepare performers for the school’s OMA Concert in July.

The camp brought together students from across the academy for several days of rehearsals, workshops and private lessons, giving them a concentrated block of time to sharpen their playing before the concert season begins.

Teachers structured the days around ensemble sessions and one-on-one coaching, with students moving between group work and individual practice as they refined pieces for the upcoming program.

Staff say the intensive format allows students to make progress that would take far longer to achieve in ordinary weekly lessons, since the camp strips away the usual distractions of the school timetable and lets young musicians focus purely on their craft for an extended stretch.

Beyond the technical work, the camp also gave students space to socialise outside the classroom, with shared meals and free time between sessions helping forge friendships across year groups and instrument sections.

The school says the combination of hard work and camaraderie is central to what makes the camp valuable each year, and organisers are already looking ahead to July, when the results of this year’s camp will be on full display at the OMA Concert.
