News From Wisemans Ferry Community Men’s Shed

Shed construction is flourishing! The team has been working under duress from the extreme heatwave we have been experiencing. We can almost guarantee that each Tuesday will be 40 degrees plus lately. What a summer!

Phil, Alan and Adrian, have put in a mammoth effort on the shed this month but not without the help of Wayne Bonsor, Les Sheather and Paul Vella. These guys have made sure we got the walls secured and the roof on, what champion blokes!

They have each brought some extra helpers too and we continue to be assisted by a dedicated group of members from the Bowling Club. Thank you to all our helpers, your valuable time is very much appreciated.

What a difference that roof has made too! Certainly a little cooler to work under and the odd shower doesn’t interrupt us now. The flooring has been completed and the frames for the amenities have been erected and soon will be clad. It is really taking shape. We should be to lock-up real soon.

The electrician, Mark, arrived to do his part but not first without us hitting a glitch whilst digging the trench, we struck rock.

A couple of phone calls later, the problem was solve as yet another wonderful community businessman (Len Jones and his grandson Daniel) arrived with equipment to complete the job. A huge thank you Len & Daniel for literally digging us out of this one. You are legends!

We must also thank the staff at Bunnings McGraths Hill (Nerida, Craig, Noel and others) as they have gone out of their way to assist us with materials and equipment for this project. It is terrific service from them and we truly appreciate it.

The results from the last Rotary raffle are in and thank you to all who bought tickets from us. Unfortunately once again the winners were not locals but you not only assisted us with fund raising but you also assist Rotary who do so much good for our community. There will be another one on sale soon so maybe some of us will have better luck with that. Meanwhile the results are:

1 st Prize: Ticket HR85990 – V Moses – Redcliffe

2ne Prize: Ticket HR90025 – K Burston – Scone

3 rd Prize: Ticket HR58912 – D Sutton – Bellambi
