Celebrating confirmation at St Benedict’s

Thirty-plus young people from the parish were confirmed at St Benedicts on Saturday 4 August. Because we don’t have a local bishop at the moment, with Bishop Peter Comensoli having left to take up the role of Archbishop of Melbourne, confirmation was presided over by our own Parish Priest Father Bernard. What a happy day it was for the young people who received the sacrament, and for their families. Special thanks to Father Bernard and all those who worked to make the celebration such a success, and congratulations to all.

Our new administrator

While the diocese waits for Pope Francis to appoint a new bishop, we have been pleased to welcome Reverend Doctor David Ranson as the administrator of the Broken Bay Diocese to which our parish belongs.

St Benedict’s Feast Day

Because we’ve had rather a busy time in recent weeks, we’d had trouble finding a date to mark St Benedicts Feast Day in July. But as St Benedict, patron saint of our parish and monastic community, was born almost 1500 years ago, a few weeks of delay are probably of little significance. We made up for the delay on Sunday 5 August with a celebratory party after 9am Mass. Picture shows young Joshua Azzi from Dural in the foreground very capably in charge of the barbecue with a backdrop of children making the most of the very popular jumping castle.
