New interns welcomed at Hornsby Hospital

Hornsby Hospital has received an injection of new talent with 16 junior doctors joining the ranks, Member for Hornsby Matt Kean said today.

Mr Kean welcomed the doctors to the shire at the start of their medical career, saying their drive and commitment would improve the lives of thousands of people.

“It’s an honour to have these dedicated professionals at Hornsby Hospital to start their long careers,” Mr Kean said.

The new recruits include 24-year-old Noni Chan, of Beecroft, and aspiring opthamalogist James Jiang, 25, of Killara.

Noni, a former Abbotsleigh student, and James, who attended Killara High, are University of Sydney graduates who said Hornsby Hospital already had a fond place in their hearts.

“We were here together on our first day of medical school so it’s like we have come full circle,” Noni said.

James said: “It’s good to be back – it’s a great hospital.”

As well as working at Hornsby, the new doctors will rotate through other hospitals including Mona Vale, Manly and the SAN.
