Middle Dural Public School has something new to show off. Shade sails now cover the sandpit and outdoor learning area — a change that took years of advocacy to reach and arrived through a 2026 State Government Community Building Partnership grant, backed by local MP James Wallace.
For students, the difference is immediate. Shaded ground means outdoor learning and play through the warmer months without the old scramble for shelter. The sandpit alone drew traffic every recess; now it draws traffic and stays cool enough to use.
The upgrades didn’t stop there. New playground markings arrived after the Easter break, extending the school’s existing mural into something more interactive — shapes and patterns that invite movement, games, and the kind of incidental learning kids pick up without realising.
Around the edges of the grounds, the chickens and vegetable garden still pull students in at quieter moments. The newest addition is a mud kitchen, which opens later this term and is already generating the kind of pre-launch buzz only primary schoolers can manufacture.
