Friday 27th October was a very special day for local primary school leaders as they had the opportunity to visit NSW Parliament as part of an annual event hosted by Hornsby MP, Matt Kean.
After a guided tour Matt hosted the young leaders in the Legislative Chamber where they were joined by several special guests including former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Giants netball captain Jo Harten, former dual professional athletic with WNBL and AFLW, Erin Lorenzini, and rugby union international Billy Pollard.
It was a special experience for Brumbies player Billy Pollard who, ten years prior, was himself one of Matt Kean’s guests as a Hornsby Heights Public School leader.
The students listened intently to Billy as he talked about his personal journey coming through the Asquith Magpies and the Hornsby Rugby Union clubs, which ultimately led to him making his debut at hooker for the Wallabies in August 2022.
Matt Kean was impressed with all the student leaders who asked some very insightful questions about leadership and how the NSW parliament operates. Matt said, “I hope all the student leaders had an enjoyable visit and I wish them all the best as they start their high school journey next year.”
