1st Dural Scout Group has their 80th anniversary this year.
In December 1939, the Reverend Ronald O’Brien of Arcadia received his warrant to become a Cub Master for 1st Dural Cub Pack in the Parramatta District and this marked the beginning of the 1st Dural Scout Group. Over the years the Group met at several locations in the District including Leaders’ garages and makeshift halls until finally moving to its present purpose-built hall in the 1985.
We now have five Sections for different ages: Joeys (6-8yo), Cubs (8-11yo), Scouts (11-14yo), Venturers (14-18yo) and Rovers (18-25yo). Girls and boys have been members in all Sections since 1990.
1st Dural Group has had 34 members achieve their Queen’s Scout award, which is recognised by communities in most countries across the world.
Scouting offers Australian youth a program that contributes to their personal growth, offers leadership development opportunities, develops resilience, and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of a 21st century global community.
1st Dural Group currently has vacancies for Girls and Boys from 6 to 25 yo.
