A P-plate driver will face court next month on drink driving and dangerous driving charges after an incident in Galston. Just before 1am on Saturday 13 May 2017, emergency services were called to The Galston Club, Arcadia Road, Galston, following reports a man had become trapped under a car. Initial inquiries suggest a 26-year-old man jumped onto the bonnet of the car, which was being driven by a 23-year-old man, before sliding off and becoming stuck under the vehicle. The 26-year-old man was treated at for a broken leg at the scene, before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers attached to Kuring Gai Local Area Command, spoke to the p-plate driver of the car. He was subjected to a breath analysis, which returned a positive reading. A subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.152 The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, driving with a high range PCA and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily whilst under the influence.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court on 8 June 2017. Crash Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, and further charges are expected to be laid.
