Dural resident Kate Johnson is heading to the glitz and glamour of New York Fashion Week this month, to work alongside some of the industry’s biggest brands.

The 20-year-old fashion student will be assisting at more than 10 shows during New York Fashion Week, from 5th to 19th September.

Kate is part of a group of students from the National Fashion College to head to the US for the special event. In addition to helping with the shows, they will have exclusive head office tours and attend Q&As with big name fashionistas.

The former student of Galston High School and Barker College is currently completing an Advanced Certificate of Fashion National Fashion College and is in term three of her studies. She will graduate at the end of the year.

Kate said she dreamed of building her own brand one day, designing her own clothes and opening her own stores.

The youngster, who currently works for fashion brand Glassons, said she hoped to complete buying and designing internships and work experience (organised by the National Fashion College), upon returning from America.

Kate has already completed an internship at The Known Agency, where she worked on influencer gifting, PR placement for Australian and New Zealand brands and assisted at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week in May 2022.

National Fashion College Director Bryce Alexander McIntosh said he was proud to be taking Australian students to NYC and putting them on the global stage.

“These students are the next generation of our industry. I cannot wait to see what the experience does for their careers upon returning home to Sydney,” he said.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][us_image image=”83060″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
