Jasmine Cook: Young Equestrian heading to Portugal

Hi, my name is Jasmine Cook. I am a 13-year-old showjumper from Arcadia, New South Wales and attend Galston High School, I have been competing with two horses over the 2023-2024 season,Sherbet Wizz Fizz and Summer Thyme.

We compete nearly every weekend, and when not in competition, we actively participate in Local Pony Club activities. Among my recent achievements, I became the 2023 ENSW State Interschool Champion in both the 80 cm and 90 cm showjumping categories.

This success led to my selection to represent Team NSW at the 2023 Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championship in Melbourne, where I won the Australian Interschool 90 cm Champion title and secured the Reserve Champion title in the 80 cm category. Additionally, I was the top point scorer for Team NSW for 2023.

I was also honoured to represent Team NSW at the 2023 Petcock Pony Club National Championships held in Western Australia, with a hub in Melbourne.

I competed for the Sub Junior team and achieved the title of 2023 Pony Club National Champion in this category, as well as first place in the team event. Furthermore, I participated in the Pony Club State Show Jumping Competition, where I won the Under 13 years B Grade Champion title and finished among the top four point scorers.

During 2024, I was selected again to be a part of the NSW Team to compete at the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championship on my new 5 year old Horse ,Summer Thyme , where we came away with 4th in Australia in the 1 m Intermediate.

I also competed at the Waratah World cup taking the win in the 105 cm 5 years old Open class and 3rd place in the 110 cm Jnr Class on Summer Thyme competing against Adults in the Open class.

Most recently on Summer Thyme, we travelled to Willinga Park and competed in the Australian Championships in the Children’s series where we competed in our first 115 cm together .In October 2024 , on my Pony Sherbet Wizz Fizz , I competed in the Jumping NSW State Championships where we won the Children’s Champion Title.

2025 is set to be my biggest year yet.

In September 2024 I was offered an amazing opportunity to travel overseas to Portugal to be a part of the Global Amateur Team. I will train on borrowed horses and I will have the chance to sharpen my flatwork and jumping skills under the guidance of world-class clinicians. I will also have the chance to compete in a training environment.

This International experience is an amasing opportunity and I am honoured to have been selected among a talented group of riders. I am fully committed to immersing myself in all activities on this tour to gain as much knowledge and skills as I can whilst I am in Portugal.

It is my chance to show my dedication and passion for show jumping.

My aspiration is to compete at the World Cup level and pursue the Olympic dream and this amazing opportunity is certainly a stepping stone to help me get there one day.

My family has been very supportive in my equestrian dreams ,and to help with the costs to get me to Portugal, I am reaching out to the greater community in hopes that you may consider helping with the cost to achieve my Equestrian goals.

Bendigo Bank Galston contribution, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated and make a significant difference.

I will be documenting my travel to Portugal via socials to keep all those who contributed and supported me updated.

Thank you for your consideration in helping me achieve my goal and I am so excited to represent my country Internationally.
