Galston High School’s India Dalton has been acknowledged amongst the state’s most exceptional public education students, becoming a recipient of the 2022 NSW Minister’s Award for Student Achievement presented by Minister for Education and Early Learning, Sarah Mitchell.
The Minister’s Award for Excellence in Student Achievement is a prestigious award presented to students who have demonstrated high achievement in academic excellence, leadership and commitment to the school community.
India, a Year 12 student currently completing her HSC exams, certainly fulfils all those criteria and it is fitting she has been acknowledged with the award shared amongst an elite 40 students in the state.
India is an all-round student, consistently in the top ten of all her subjects. This level of academic performance has been a feature of her entire academic career as school dux for the past six consecutive years.
India is also an all-rounder in the sporting field: her sporting interests and talents extend across cricket, soccer, futsal, swimming, athletics, softball and orienteering, regularly representing the school at the interschool and zone levels. Orienteering, in particular, is a strength with her progressing to NSW school state championships for three consecutive years. Unsurprisingly, India is the school vice-captain and has held leadership roles through her time at Galston High School, including girls’ program leader, student spirit team member and farm team leader. She is involved in continuing tradition and connection through participation in community ANZAC Day events and working with veterans in the community to record their stories and experiences of war (something for which she received the Premier’s Anzac Memorial Award).
India is an exceptional, authentic and selfless young person who exemplifies the values around which communities are built and future citizens are made. Galston High School congratulates India on this welldeserved recognition and wishes her well as she completes her HSC
