Hornsby Student Leadership Day 2025

From the desk of James Wallace Member for Horsnby

I recently had the pleasure of bringing together student leaders from local high schools for the Hornsby Student Leadership Day at NSW Parliament House.

The day was designed to help those young leaders develop their leadership skills and explore how they could demonstrate community service within and beyond their schools.

Students spent time in the Legislative Assembly and each spoke at the dispatch box, which gave them a unique opportunity to share their reflections on leadership on the floor of the NSW Parliament. The students also heard from me and other young State MPs about what drew them to public service, what leadership means to them, and how they approach leadership in their roles.

The students and I also had some fascinating conversations about the impact of social media, the quality of our education system and the positive impact of school and the wider community on their lives. We also discussed how they could get involved with serving the community as the next generation of local leaders.

Congratulations and thank you to each of the students who participated – Janine Lee and Morgan Stanbury (Pacific Hills Christian School); Caitlyn Loch, David Wu and Emily Woo (Cherrybrook Technology High School); Amelie Reeves and Morgan Glanville (Galston High School); Yvette Huang and Olivia Trinh (Hornsby Girls High School); and Jesse Lossel and Boston Cameron (Asquith Boys High School).

I hope the students left Parliament House with a renewed passion for leadership and public service. With these young people as the next generation of leaders, I’m confident that the future of Hornsby is in good hands.
