Hawkesbury City Council has opened its revised Naming of Roads and Places Policy for public comment. Residents have until Sunday, September 7, 2026, to share their opinions. The draft document outlines the process for naming Hawkesbury roads, suburbs, parks, reserves, buildings, and other public spaces within the local government area. This includes areas such as gardens, car parks, and open spaces
The policy Council is reviewing dates back to 22 November 2022, when it was first adopted. Since then it has gone through a fresh review to bring it into line with current requirements and to make sure it still works for the naming decisions Council has to make on a regular basis.
Councillors voted at their meeting on 21 July 2026 to send the draft policy out for exhibition, a move aimed at giving both residents and other stakeholders a proper chance to look over the document before anything is finalised.
