Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade News

A New Truck For Glenorie Station
During July Glenorie Brigade were lucky to receive a new Heavy Tanker. The new unit is a specially built “Village” Category 1 Appliance which was previously operated by Kellyville Fire Brigade. Members worked hard to get everything set up so it could start service as soon as possible. The new tanker has a larger amount of locker space giving volunteers easier access to items that we commonly need at village incidents. This Tanker is replacing our older Village truck which will become the district spare.

Breathing Apparatus Training at Galston High School
Members attended a multi-agency breathing apparatus training exercise organised by Arcadia Fire Brigade. Fire Fighters wearing Breathing Apparatus Equipment had to complete different training scenarios such as search and rescue of classrooms and identifying hazards. It was a great exercise for members to gain more knowledge of not so common incidents, to work with neighbouring brigades and Castle Hill FRNSW.

Keeping Up with Technology
Glenorie Fire Brigade received a generous gift from The Village, Glenorie which is an iPad to go in to one of our Fire Trucks. This will be a great tool to use to see member statuses when responding to incidents, organising Hazard Reductions, using maps and a range of other applications. Members will be getting familiar with the range of uses and ways it can help us before the Fire Season. We would like to thank The Village, Glenorie for such a thoughtful donation.

Get Ready Before Fire Season
Even though we are in Winter we have been seeing Dire Danger Readings of High. Conditions have been dry, windy and unusually warm. It’s certainly a reminder that the fire season is just around the corner. Now is the time to get on with property preparation before the Fire Season. Make sure you also update your Bush Fire Survival Plan and make sure everyone in your household knows what the plan is. For useful tips on property preparation you can visit The NSW Rural Fire Service Website.
