Glenorie Public School

Term one is nearly over with many things going on in the last few weeks. It has been a very busy and interesting term, so now we’d like to share that with you!

On Friday 7th April, we celebrated Easter by holding our annual Easter hat parade. K-2 made their eggceptional Easter hats and paraded around the basketball court! We eggcitedly watched Mr Gary Mangan from Galston Bendigo Bank drop the stage three students’ egg protecting contraptions from the roof. Luckily most eggs survived the drop but there were many close calls! Next we went into the library to see all of the eggstravagansas that were on display. We all meet in the hall to have our Easter egg raffle. The first prize winner certainly didn’t need the Easter bunny to come to them this year! It was an eggcellent day!

Well done to Chloe, Eloise, Tahlia and Zoe for representing Glenorie Public School in the 2017 Area swimming carnival. Our students did very well coming 10th in the senior relay. A big congratulation to Chloe who participated in 6 events coming 10th in 50m freestyle and 11th in 50m breaststroke. She did very well in 4 other events. The senior relay and Chloe’s 50m Free made it to the finals and well done to Chloe who was also runner up Age Champion at the Zone Swimming Carnival. Congratulations girls!

On Tuesday 28th March, Glenorie Preschool visited the Kindergarten classrooms at Glenorie Public School. They took part in the spelling lesson. The kindergartens were learning about the letter ‘N’ they made naughty and nice ninja turtles. The preschoolers handled the glue and scissors well with help from the kindergartens. The pre-schoolers enjoyed their time learning in ‘Big School’.

As is tradition each year, our school will be commemorating ANZAC Day. This year our schoolbased service will be held next term, on Wednesday 26th April (Week1) at 10:45 am. The school captains will hold an assembly to remember the soldiers who fought in the war. Some students will bring flowers on the first school day in order for us to construct wreaths. The school will also participate in the Glenorie ANZAC ceremony at 3:00pm on 25th April. A very touching day to commemorate the celebrations of Gallipoli. Lest we Forget.

What a busy few weeks it’s been. We can’t wait for more of these exciting weeks at Glenorie Public School!
