Glenorie Bakery
Glenorie Bakery revised its DA to extend its trading hours on 21 Aug 2018. You can track the DA on the Hills Shire website with tracking number 2181/2005/HD/A.
The Glenorie Bakery extended hours was discussed extensively during the latest GPA meeting with the membership coming to the following conclusions: The majority of members truly appreciate and value Glenorie Bakery. Members noted the passion for great product, service and ambience that the Bakery displays and how it has become a destination for residents and visitors alike. Also, its commitment to charity. All members understood that the Bakery is a business, and like any business, operating to turn a profit. GPA is pro-business and understands how the extended hours could be good for business. No one wanted to “cramp” the growth of the business, however members were concerned that the appetite for growth and profit must be balanced against the needs of the wider community, in particular the need for children in the Glenorie village to be able to sleep on school nights. The Membership reviewed the submitted hours and resolved that if Glenorie Bakery were to amend its submission to more reasonable hours it would endorse that submission, in writing.
Boral Concrete
Glenorie Progress Association continues to oppose the potential upgrade of the Glenorie Batching Plant by Boral and will continue to remain vigilant for any development with the potential DA.
Congestion
Old Northern Rd, Dural and further un-sustainable development. It is not uncommon for Glenorie residents to sit in a traffic jam starting from St Judes Church, intersection of Galston Rd and Old Northern Rd, snaking to Pennant Hills, the M2 or Castle Hill, anytime of a weekday or weekend morning. This is a ridiculous state of affairs. The residents of Glenorie, Galston, Dural and wider regions have been abandoned by successive state governments with a lack of planning and investment on this particular matter. Your drive could now get worse. A submission has been made to Hornsby Council (DA 668/2018) to develop 146 Units, 74 Aged Care beds and 383 Car Spaces, up to 14m high, over 29,695 m2 (2.96 Ha) in Vineys Lane, Dural.
The deadline for submissions has closed, but regardless, feel free to voice your concerns to your local members and councillors. GPA is opposed to this development particularly while there is zero commitment by the government to badly needed significant roads and infrastructure. The current situation is untenable, why should it be exacerbated. Why should the entire community be disadvantaged to benefit the profit of a few land speculators?
