Galston swimming once again punches above its weight

On the weekend of September 6 and 7, the NSW champs were held at SOPAC in Homebush. Galston sent its biggest team in recent memory to this incredibly prestigious event. Short Course qualifying times are difficult to achieve, generally only allowing the top 30 swimmers in the state to even enter.

Galston, under the ever watchful eye of newly appointed, Head Coach Adrian Rossi, entered three individual swimmers in 5 events, and the U/13 Boys relay team in both the 4 X 50 freestyle, and 4 X 50 Medley Relay. Blake, Finn, Zavier , Jack and George swam amazingly, improving their entry time in both relays. Individually, Gabriella managed an astonishing 18th in 50 Breast (she had her cast taken off her arm one week before the race), Finn finished a mind boggling 17th in the 100 Breast (he swam in the 10 and under at only 9 years old…he actually came 5th in the 9 year olds) and Anastasia came a crazy 16th (coming into the event as the 27th fastest qualifier!)

Well done team on an amazing Short Course season. We now lengthen the pools by 25m and get into the summer Long Course Season. Go Galston!!

May I take this moment to thank outgoing Secretary, Robyn Charlton on her amazing contribution to our club over a decade. She had been not just one cornerstone, but about three of them during that time. We will miss both what she does and the amazing person she is.
