This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the Galston Rural Fire Brigade and Arcadia Rural Fire Brigade. The two brigades were originally combined as one under the name of Hornsby Shire Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade. We’ve come a long way in 75 years…the brigade’s original gear only consisted of thirty 30gallon water drums, and a number of volunteered motor trucks on standby to cart the drums. Despite the limited gear – within a few days of its beginning, the new Brigade‘s services were already being called upon.
To help commemorate our 75th anniversary there will be an official dinner event at 6pm on Saturday the 10th September, at the Galston Community Centre hall. The invite is open to all current and past members. Ticket prices are yet to be confirmed but they will be no more than $65 per person.
