Holsworthy Fires
Mid-April Galston RFB formed part of a strike team sent down to Alfords Point region to assist in fighting the massive fire raging out of control through thick bushland.
Galston formed part of a line of fire trucks five kilometres long on Heathcote Road in an attempt to hold it off. The unseasonably warm weather and strong winds meant firies were faced with an intense fire front generating areas of extremely thick smoke and embers.
Amazing work and dedication was shown by all involved, including Westleigh Rural Fire Brigade, Dural Rural Fire Brigade, Arcadia Rural Fire Brigade, and Hornsby Rural Fire Brigade.
Gorge car accident, and fallen trees
Galston RFB was called to a car accident in the Gorge recently. A driver coming out of the Gorge on the Galston side had clipped the rock wall and flipped their car. Luckily the driver was unharmed.
NSW Fire and Rescue, Police, and Ambulance were also on the scene. Galston RFB cleared an oil spill and assisted with traffic control until the car was removed by tow truck.
That same day Galston RFB responded to numerous trees down callouts due to the extremely windy weather. In one incident the Galston crew helped remove debris after a fallen tree caused damage to several parked cars near Vision Valley.
