On Sunday 24 March Galston Equestrian Club held a Members Only Dressage Competition and breast cancer fund raiser. Members enjoyed a relaxed day riding the new EA tests for the first time, as well as raising just under $390 for breast cancer research. Pink cup cakes (baked by a super talented member) were a highlight of the day and helped raise money for our chosen charity, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, who support and promote research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer.
We held an informative talk on 4 April when Suzi Deryk of Crackerjack Horsemanship shared her wealth of knowledge in her presentation, Expectations of your New Horse. All who attended found the talk very helpful.
Popular local coach Keira Byrnes ran a Show Jumping Clinic on Saturday 13 April. Keira teaches at all levels from beginners to those aiming to compete on the professional circuit. Her lessons focused on building confidence in both horse and rider and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the clinic.
On Sunday 14 April we held a Horse Agility & Equitation Day with Suzanne Bellette. Suzanne gave a demonstration of basic skills on the ground prior to participants introducing their horses to a series of obstacles both on the ground and under saddle. These days are always well attended and are great for building communication with your horse.
Also on 14 April, members participated in the Legerete School Training Clinic with another popular local instructor, Paul Cairns. Legerete is classical dressage and is designed to benefit the natural biomechanics of the horse. These clinics always fill fast and other Legerete clinics with Paul will be held throughout the year.
