GALSTON CONCERTS NEW TALENT PLANS

After a regretful decision to postpone the Sunday 22 March opening of The Galston Concerts 2020 series in Galston Uniting Church plans are underway for an even rosier future.

The concerts team are planning interim ways to connect with the Galston audience.

Co-Artistic Directors of the concerts, Galston residents Robert Harris and Dorit Herskovits, noticed a real sense of loss from audience members on hearing of the postponement.

“Many see the concerts as highlights of each month, potentially an even brighter spot in these strange isolated times”.

“So we’ll approach our performers to offer on-line videos linked into our monthly e-newsletters.”

“Bulletins will also include clues about the music of each concert with links to you-tube options. Not quite a live concert but whetting our appetite!”

“We’re also looking ahead to an even brighter future by nominating a local multi-talent as The Galston Concerts Young Musician of the Year 2020”.

“Jack Theakston, his family longtime Kenthurst residents, is a music scholarship student at Hills Grammar, Principal Cellist of the Hills Shire Symphony Orchestra and a frequent performer on Galston Uniting’s historic pipe organ.”

“Perhaps more impressive will be news that his piano, organ and cello skills attain state, national and international successes, all at the ripe old age of 13. More news of Jack when we announce the award.”

A decision may soon be made on the re-scheduling of the next concert from 24 May until a future date. Enquiries to join the Galston database should contact 0428 248 348.
