Council has given the “all clear” to open Fagan Park to the public again. This means we will have our Open Day on ANZAC DAY, Monday 26 April. Come up and have a look at all the treasures in our custody. You, the citizens of Hornsby Shire, are really the owners.
This also means we are open on our volunteering days every Tuesday, and on the second Sunday of every month. The next occasion is Sunday 11th April. Visitors are welcome to have a chat anytime.
Visitors to the Museum buildings will need to abide by Covid safety rules, including signing in with the QR-code displayed (by those with smart phones), and maintaining social distancing.
It is great to see the interest you locals have in the progress of our International truck project. Whilst it probably appears to be moving at a snail’s pace, I can assure you we are busy with myriads of small jobs that are necessary. Examples are having to make from scratch all the accelerator, choke and spark advance linkages (sorry if this is a bit technical!), as these were almost completely missing. We have had to look at a number of similar trucks for clues, mostly finding every one different to another, and so we have ended up working it out for ourselves. Another problem that has taken us a lot of time to resolve was the engine was that at a slight angle. We elongated the holes in a mount to correct it. All these take time and slow down the progress, but we are getting there!
We have now dressed the Forrest Redgum hardwood timber for the tray, and it looks very nice indeed. Photographed by visitor Lindsey are Vern and I applying the first coat of varnish to the bearers.
