Ferry Artists open Wild@Art

The Ferry Artists recently opened their first themed exhibition of the year at their gallery in Wisemans Ferry. Titled Wild@Art this exhibition celebrates everything wildlife in our valley.

In recent years the Ferry Artists have been collaborating with the Macdonald Valley Association’s Valley for Wildlife Project creating recycled satellite dish wildlife awareness signs and a painted power pole project in St Albans.

Headed by Linda Bracken from the MVA and Luke Kelly past president of the Ferry Artists, a group of Ferry Artists have worked with local volunteers, using designs created by the local school children, to create these fabulous projects.

“Be aware of wildlife on our roads and don’t run them over”, is the key message however this is followed quickly by “Please check a dead animal for a joey and call WIRES”.

The exhibition opened on March 23rd with guest speaker Linda Bracken from the MVA talking to us about the project and was supported by Robin Preston MP for Hawkesbury and Julian Leeser Federal MP for Berowra. The opening was attended well by our friends at the Gallery.

“The gallery looks vibrant and inviting and showcases the fabulous work of our talented artists” says current president Carol Gill, “We really appreciate the support the community and visitors show for our community gallery. Bringing this message to the community is a theme all our artists and local residents can get behind.”

The exhibition will run through until July when the display team will change the gallery for the next themed show Living Colour.

The Ferry Artists is a not for profit community gallery showcasing the work of artists and artisans in our local and surrounding region. Membership is available to interested artists by contacting the gallery [email protected].

The Ferry Artists Gallery is open daily 10am to 4pm in Wisemans Ferry Central. Pop down to see our current show and chat to our member on duty that day. You can keep up with us on the socials Instagram and Facebook.
