It was a big win to start dural’s bowling year when Robin Davidson, Diana Sweeney, Eileen Bromley and Elizabeth Whelan won the District Senior Fours in their new bowls district, Mitchell. They went through all rounds with decisive wins. It was the first time they had played together under lights as the matches were played in the twilight due to the hot conditions but they handled it like veterans.
Not to be outdone, the following week they split into two pairs and each pair reached the final of Dural’s Pairs Championship when they played each other in an exciting game with Elizabeth and Diana emerging victorious. They are hoping to continue on their winning way as they are all in Dural’s Grade One Pennant team for the competition which starts early to avoid any clash with the Commonwealth Games.
The men not to be outdone also played the final of their Pairs Championship when Paddy Gaul and Stuart Yeend defeated Sean Lee and Phil Bonvino.
