Dural Scouts at Kenthurst Fair

Dural Scout Group recently took part in the Kenthurst Fair, organised by the Rotary Club of Kenthurst in conjunction with the Orange Blossom Festival.

There was a parade on Kenthurst Road with a pipe band and community groups including Dural Scouts, Galston Guides and Kenthurst Public School.

There were also vintage cars and trucks and fire engines from the Kenthurst Rural Fire Service. At the fair there were rides and attractions for kids including a petting zoo, a jumping castle and various other rides and amusements.

For their end of term activity, the Cubs had a great night at Hayes Oval looking at the starry sky, learning a bit about Astronomy and playing wide games.

Dural Scouts at Kenthurst FairTheir goal was to learn something about the Southern Cross and use it to find the direction South.

A big thanks to Tony who brought his telescope along. The Cubs were able to see the moon, of course, the view for each of them was different and changed as they excitedly peered into the eyepiece. The enjoyment continued as they shared lollies and chocolates at the end of the night.

It was a fun night for those who attended and hopefully it will cultivate an interest in the sky and outdoors for our Cubs.

Dural Scout Group has vacancies for Girls and Boys from 5 to 25 years. Joeys (5yo), Cubs (8yo), Scouts (12yo) and Venturers (16yo).
