DURAL COUNTRY CLUB BOWLS

The pennant season has finished and it is back to usual business at the club. The prestigious Major Singles under way and some excellent bowls have been played. Leone Lesslie will play Christine Fitzgerald in the final.

Recently Ruth Keene, Diane Trovato and Chris Fitzgerald won the Western Suburbs Saturday Triples Competition. This was a good win as a number of the top bowlers from a wide area competed. Marilyn Bonvino, Leone Lesslie, Kath Sach and David Lesslie have each been in the winners’ circle at various events.

The Competition for the Ladies not playing in the pennant team was a tight battle with Dawn Downie emerging victorious to receive her prize from President Robyn Scoble.

The State carnival, a week-long event, comes up at the end of May and the keen Dural ladies are off up the coast. There are two matches each day in Round-Robin format and then the top 16 play-off, so the teams are hoping to reach the playoffs. A peek at the draw indicates the presence of some state teams so it will be a good experience win, or lose.

ANZAC Day was celebrated with a game of mixed bowls and a brief remembrance service.

New members are always welcome. Come and try bowls.
