The first event of the year has been played and won. Sisters Leone Lesslie and Marelle Saunders triumphed again after being pushed for most of the game by Diana Sweeney and Elizabeth Whelan. In spite of the heat a lot of the ladies sat around to watch the excellent bowls. The district games have started and Dural has some good teams entered against the best the other clubs have.******
On Australia Day the Dural Country Club opened the greens for some Barefoot Bowls, informal games played by members of the public in their day clothes. One extended family came and had a great time on the green before going into the club for a meal, and for the children, a turn on the jumping castle, specially provided for Australia Day. People can book in parties for Barefoot Bowls by phoning Doug on 0439 648 559. Doug can explain the costs and plans on offer.
