There are many dates to look forward to at the start of each new season: the firstround games, the finals series, presentation day, Purple Socks Campaign, our famous Minis Gala Day and this year our 50th Dinner Anniversary, which will take place on Saturday 27th of July at Springfield House!
Hills Hawks Football Club is a community focused club that has been part of the Galston community since February 1969, when the minutes of the Hills District Memorial Club Sports Council recorded that the HDMC Sports Council entered teams in the local soccer competition; at which point the history of Hills Hawks Football Club began!
The fantastic grounds and facilities we have today, which started as a rough oval with a trotting track around it in 1969, Hills Hawks FC has been steadily growing through the years, both on and off the field. Numerous teams have been champions in the past 50 years, including mini soccer teams having made their way through to Premier League, our wonderful clubhouse built in 2012, 500 registered players and this year, 49 teams. Our club keeps welcoming new and old players, boys and girls, junior, senior and premier league players as well as men’s and ladies’ social competitions.
From its inception in 1969 and through to the present day, the Hills Hawks Football Club is more than a football club: we bring together and support families in the local community to become one larger, single family. There are families who have been involved in the local soccer community now for four generations. The Hills Hawks Football Club has been an instrumental part in the sporting and social development of the Galston, Arcadia, Dural and Glenorie communities.
The Club wouldn’t be where it is today without the support of the local community, the numerous volunteers and the dedicated committee members, along with all its sponsors including the Glenorie RSL Club, Bendigo Galston Community Bank Branch, Hills District Machinery, ClearState Property Group, Hills Self Storage, CVW Engineering, Turrell Building, Chizzo’s Pizzeria, Coppernest Property Group and IGA Galston.
The strong ties of friendships developed, and the sense of community built through the Hills Hawks FC has been profound, creating a sense we are one big family. We wish to thank everyone who has ever been and continues to be a part of our wonderful football community and look forward to the celebration event on 27 July.
