This Saturday 18 June, the festivities commence for Celebrate Deerubbin — a Festival of the Hawkesbury River! Bring along some friends and family for a day of learning and activities.
It’s also a great opportunity to make a day of it and visit the Brooklyn area with beautiful coastal walks and playgrounds. Here’s the program of events, activities and stalls:
- 10am — Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony
- 10.30am — Children’s painting workshop ‘Secret Islands’ – A painting workshop making paint from rocks and oxides with local artist Ana Pollack
- 10.30am — “First Nations Weaving Circle” by Ngumpie Weaving
- 11am — Broken Bay Pearl Farm presentation – Discover the hidden gem of the Hawkesbury
- 12pm Lunch — Sausage sizzle with assistance of Brooklyn RFS or visit the local cafes and restaurants
- 1pm — Children’s painting workshop “Secret Islands” – A painting workshop making paint from rocks and oxides with local artist Ana Pollack
- 1.30pm — Hawkesbury Oyster growers – The Ins and Outs of growing oysters
- 2.30pm — Raffle draw with amazing prizes
- 3pm — End of event
Council recommend taking the train to this event as the Celebrate Deerubbin venue is just opposite to the train station.
