Busy End of Year for Smith Brothers

Late one evening, David and Peter received a late call up to replace 2 injured riders in the Postie Bike GP Race at Cessnock. I’m not sure if anyone is aware of this meeting, but it is a race held through the back streets of Cessnock on Postie Bikes.

Peter decided not to ride, but to be his brothers pit manager and David contended a mate to partner him in this event. Being that this was their first time at the Postie Bike GP Race, David was quite excited and also anxious and was the first of the two riders to head off. All went well finishing first in the B final race, but unfortunately it did not go to plan for the rest of the meeting. Both brothers enjoyed the weekend so much that they and now are looking to buy their own postie bike to compete in next years race.

So if anyone has a postie bike in the shed and would like to see it put to some good use, let the smith brothers know and look out next year when the brothers will team up together on the streets of Cessnock in the 2023 Postie Bike GP Race!!!!

Again the Smith brothers decided to head off to Broadford, Victoria to compete in the 2022 Victorian Dirt Track Championships for a two day event. With the weather being hot, this didn’t seem to deter the boys with David finishing 3rd in the 450cc and 4th in the MX Open with Peter finishing 11th in the 450cc and 8th in the MX Open.

The brothers two weeks later decided that they will be going in the opposition direction, up to Brisbane for the North Brisbane Cup. This meeting being completely different in the way that it was a day and night meet. The event attracted the likes of Jack Miller and some of Australia’s best dirt track riders in the 125cc Cup race. David finished 6 and Peter 7. Both boys missed out on the North Brisbane Cup final due to some very bad decision from the race official, but still managed to finish with David overall 14th and Peter 18th from a field of 48.
