Over the last few news issues we have been showing photos of quilts donated to the Aussie Hero coordinator for distribution to service men and women. So far nearly 8,000 (yes eight thousand) quilts have been given made by Quilters from all over Australia. Also some 14,000 laundry bags have been made by groups country wide for distribution. One of the quilts made was all in white. A colour not very serviceable for the military’s use. It found a home finally with the family of a Hero who had died in action.
The photo is a “rescue” quilt found partially completed in a local op shop. It was taken home by a member of our group, who replaced the border fabric and finished it. This the end result.
Our biennial show is the 9 and 10 /September (at the Galston Community Hall) and this quilt will be displayed along with over 100 others.
