Arcadian Quilters Inc

Our Christmas party lunch was held December 6 at Galston with our special guests from the Riding for the Disabled at Box Hill.

We were told of the new activities, new sensory gardens, treasure trails and also the ability to photograph the property with dams, water lilies and resident pets.

One very interesting comment told was taking a group of children into a paddock and asking their interpretation on why one horse was all alone in one corner and two or three horses were together in another one. This gave the staff information on what the children imagined, thought and felt about the horses feelings and the staff could gauge and interpret the feelings of those children. It was a educational experience for us all. Unless you have the opportunity to visit Tall Timbers as we have done, the compassionate presentations provided by the volunteers, this is an amazing place.

We gave them two quilts for fundraising. One a little quilt suitable for a horse crazy child, the other large one made by a member of ours, also past volunteer from the RDA plus a generous cheque which will provide a year’s feed for one horse.
