Arcadian Quilters Inc have been involved in a quilting activity with the residents at Bupa Round Corner. Our aim was to promote hand work and enthusiasm to the Bupa group in making a quilt they could all share.
Quilting fabric was precut and given to those who wanted to join in on making a group quilt. The blocks are a basic nine patch and were hand sewn together by the residents at their leisure. The blocks were collected late last year and the photo below shows the finished quilt.
We presented the quilt complete with a hanging sleeve through which a piece of dowel was threaded. This enables the quilt to be hung on a wall for all to admire. The most rewarding part was asking those who made a block to identify it. There was some confusion to start with as they couldn’t believe the end result. On their closer inspection blocks were soon recognised and identified causing much laughter.
Arcadian Quilters meet at the Galston Community and Health Centre, Corner of The Glade and 17 Arcadia Road, Galston. Visitors most welcome.
