The Arcadia Rural Fire Service recently concluded its Annual General Meeting, marking a watershed moment in its history. For the first time ever, the brigade has appointed both a female Captain and a female President, setting a new precedent for leadership and representation within the organization.
As Mike Melis steps down from the Captaincy, the baton has been passed to Sally Elvidge, who transitions from her role as Senior Deputy Captain to lead the brigade. This shift is complemented by the elevation of Georgia King, who moves from Vice President to assume the mantle of Brigade President. To maintain the strength of the command chain, Michael Hutchence has been promoted to Senior Deputy Captain, ensuring a seamless continuation of operations.
Mike Elvidge was warmly congratulated on his recent election as Deputy Group Officer. In this expanded role, Elvidge will play a pivotal part in providing strategic leadership and support to volunteers across the wider district, further strengthening the region’s emergency response network.
