Arcadia RFS was delighted to host the NSW State Emergency Services (SES) Minister, Jihad Dib along with the NSW Treasurer, Daniel Mookhey and the NSW RFS Commissioner Rob Rogers at the media event to announce the beginning of the bushfire season (1st October to 31st March).
The event included related agency members of National Parks and Wildlife, the State Emergency Services and NSW Forestry.
During the media briefing the minister for the SES highlighted how important it is for all residents, not just those in rural areas, to have a Bushfire Survival Plan and have the Hazards Near Me app downloaded on their mobile phone.
The ministers and RFS Commissioner took to the air in the SES helicopter to view the recent hazard reduction burns in the Arcadia area.
The ministers commented on the size of the area covered by bushland, the rugged terrain and the extent of housing on ridgelines adjacent to bushland. All enjoyed the beauty of the area from the air and from the ground. So very different from their surroundings at Macquarie Street and Olympic Park.
Thank you to everyone who dropped by at the Hornsby by-election sausage sizzle at the Arcadia Community Centre on 19th October, your support is greatly appreciated. Also, thanks to all who voted for our scarecrow!
Now that we are heading towards the festive season, join us and the Galston RFS brigade at the annual Fagan Park Choirs by Candlelight.
