Arcadia Pony Club Open Day – Meeting your horse riding heroes!

Our 2019 Registration day was undoubtedly one of our best yet! It started off with our registration session – it was great to see so many of our 2018 riders returning, along with welcoming many new members as well. Everyone then assisted with setting up our show jump course as we had the stars of Tinney Eventing running a show jump clinic.

The clinics were very successful and all riders gained some wonderful advice and tips from Karen and Gemma Tinney. Those riders not in a clinic session enjoyed some fun sessions from our great Arcadia Pony Club instructors in both horsemanship and mounted games.

Once the ridden sessions were over, riders looked after their horses then enjoyed lunch from our fabulous canteen team – they were sold out of delicious lunches on the first rally day of the year!

Over lunch our riders were then inspired by hearing from Stuart Tinney and his journey of starting out at pony club in QLD to then winning Olympic Gold and Bronze representing Australia. What an amazing story! But without a doubt, the best part of the day was the opportunity our riders had to ask a question of Stuart. These questions ranged from the very cute from our littlest riders including “what’s your favorite horse colour Stuart?” to more technical questions on training horses and preparing them for competition.

A huge thank you to Tinney Eventing for so generously sharing your time and knowledge for some very hopeful Olympians of tomorrow.

We would also like to thank Leanne and our event partner Horseland Dural for coming along and providing saddle health checks and saddle fitting for our lucky riders. There were some very happy horses looking very happy in some new saddles! Tinney Eventing, Horseland Dural, CopRice and Galston’s favourite beauty and homewares store Luxe Elicious also provided some amazing raffle prizes too.

Happy riders, happy horses – what a great start to the year…
